Glacier NP
Saturday/Sunday July 5-6, 2014
Arrived in Glacier NP by early afternoon. It was the Independence Day long weekend here so quite a few campgrounds inside the park were full. We managed to get a camp spot at Apgar near the southern entrance to the park. We had plans to drive the 50 mile Towards the Sun Road which traverses the park, stopping at Logan Pass at midway to do a couple of hikes. The early morning drive along the Lake McDonald was stunning and as we approached the pass the amount of snow by the roadside increased. It was on the trail-heads that it became apparent that without skis or snowshoes we were not hiking anywhere, the snow was well over 2 m thick. We drove out of the park to Many Glacier and then to Two Medicines Lake before heading back to camp.
