Los Angeles, CA
Chicago Marathon Trip Week 3: Friday October 19 – Sunday October 21, 2018
Los Angeles was the last stop on my Chicago marathon trip before I flew home. Not high on my list of places to visit in the US. Huge and sprawling, to me it’s the kind of city you have to work really hard to find it’s beauty.
I stayed by the airport and ventured downtown by bus. The bustrip made me nervous at times but I made it and ever so pleased I made the effort. Beautiful architecture alongside faded and decaying art deco splendour.
On my last day I took a walk from my hotel to an area which used to be quite residential before the airport expansion swallowed up the suburb. Not the safest neighbourhood to walk. A few nervous moments but nothing serious in the end.
My late night flight to Sydney was delayed and was absolutely full by the time we left Los Angeles. Happy to be heading home. Now that the Chicago Marathon is over I can turn my attention to planning our next big adventure….Hammer & Corky take on the Continental Divide Trail in 2019. I will post an update on our plans in the New Year.
