Col de Vanois

Pralognan Monday July 1, 2013
We took advantage of glorious sunny skies on Monday to hike the trail to the Col de Vanoise at 2,515m elevation. Once we got up above the treeline at about 2,000m there were wonderful open hanging valleys with lots of snow to walk through.

It was silent, there was no wind and it was lovely and warm. The reflection off the snow was blinding.

Stunning views in almost all directions –  from the distant craggy mountain peaks to the cheeky marmots and of course the blooming alpine flowers.

Hammer did well to do the walk considering he did most of this section on his run yesterday. A stunning day in the high country.
