Pagosa Springs (7,300′)
We spent a very relaxed morning staying indoors. I caught up on the blog while Hammer had a long sleep. Lou-Seal loved the crispy clean sheets at the First Inn motel. A great place to stay with such friendly owners.
We did finally make it outdoors to get lunch. It was hot, temperature was 30°C (85°F) in the shade.
We had a terrific meal at the Riff Raff Brew & Eatery. I had the tastiest Veggie Burger and Hammer had a delicious Beef Burger. It is amazing how much food we can eat. With full bellies there was no way we could walk further then back to the motel. Hammer had an afternoon snooze while I finished off the blog.
Late in the afternoon we went out to get some change to pay for the laundry. We met up with Charlie again, the hunting guide we met on trail yesterday. He recognised us, easy I guess, we had the same clothes on. He looked so different. Such a happy guy, he promised to give us a ride to the trailhead at Wolf Creek Pass tomorrow morning, if he was not needed to work early.
A rest day in Pagosa Springs was just what we needed. A day to recharge mentally and physically for whatever the trail brings in the next 110 miles to Hopewell Lake in New Mexico.
