Refuge du Roc de la Peche

The sound of birds chirping woke me this morning. Clear blue sky with the sunrise illuminating the distant views of snow cover peaks were visible through the bedroom window. Being our last day in this beautiful valley we decided to walk out towards the Refuge du Roc de la Peche following the TGV race route.
We seem to climb forever getting closer to the snow cover. Once we got out above the tree cover, the open meadows covered in alpine flowers were truly breathtaking. Surprised to see low azalea shrubs covering the north facing slopes. We stopped for lunch with glorious views up the valley.
On our return leg off the Petit Mont Blanc trail we got caught behind a very large group of not happy walkers, some very reluctant to let us pass. One friendly lady gave us advice about using walking sticks next time as it much better for your knees.
