ZERO DAY IN STEHIKIN
PCT DAY 48: Saturday August 12, 2017
Mile 2569.4 – Mile 2569.4

Stehikin is an absolutely georgeous place. From the map I can see that the lake is huge, but from the Stehikin ferry landing you only see a small portion. Last night I sat on the jetty watching the sun set over the lake. Such a magical spot. Another place that is going to be hard to leave.
It was so nice to have a morning coffee and be able to stay in my sleeping bag not having to go anywhere. Just watch the sky come to life through the towering pines above me.
The few marshmallow clouds I could see in the sky grew through the day. The day was cooler then yesterday and lightly overcast with some predictions of rain. I walked the 2 miles over to the bakery to have lunch and recharge my camera battery. The road walk over went right by the lake. I cannot get over how clear and green the water is, it was so tempting to jump in.
It was great to have a relaxed lunch at the bakery. I had a delicious tuna melt, a blueberry muffin and a fantastic coffee. I haven’t eaten so much food in one sitting for a long time. Just as well I had to wait for the battery to finish charging as I don’t think I could walk, I was so full.
I’m feeling so relaxed I don’t know that I will be able to put my pack back on tomorrow and finish off the 82 miles to Canada.
There have been so many wonderful lakes along the PCT last year in California and this year in Oregon and Washington that I would like to revisit if there is an opportunity. And Lake Chelan is high up in the list. The bakery alone is worth a revisit.
These photos remind me of some of the lakes we saw while in Switzerland. So beautiful!

I know Leslie,
Some of the rolling hills backed by towering peaks remined me of Swiss alps. All that was missig was electric fences and smelly goats.
