Blizzard and Hail to Burgos
Camino: Day 9 – Thursday April 16, 2009
San Juan – Ortega to Burgos (Walk – 27km)
Undulating walk in a strong cold headwind and rain which turned to snow and hail.
I gather Spain is going through an unusual cold-snap this spring. Stopped at every village along the way for a cafe con leche and a Magdalena cake.
The coffee and dreaming of staying in a warm hotel room got me through the day. Decided to stay in a nice hotel and maybe for 2 days to boost my spirits and take the chill from my bones. Body is otherwise doing fine, sciatic pain comes and goes and the feet are blessedly blister free.
You’re going at a cracking pace. Don’t forget to look around a bit and rest up.
The tunnel route at Burgos looked pretty interesting if a little out of the way.
Good to hear from you. Keep the posts coming when you can.

Yes I did seem to cover some distance. But each day I just walk as I feel. I dont start with a plan. My pack weighs about 14kg in the morning and as I start to get through the water it gets lighter and the walking gets easier.
