HAPPY BIRTHDAY
PCT DAY 98: Rest Day # 8
Wednesday July 20, 2016: Zero miles
We so looked forward to a rest day in Ashland. It was my birthday and Hammer was keen for us to get here a day before. The plan was to organise our resupply for all of Oregon and spend today relaxing and going out to a restaurant for lunch or dinner. Well the execution of our plan was somewhat sidelined by me not being able to get around as easily as before. Resupply is bought and still to be organised once we know when Hammer is back on trail. We spent the day resting and trying to sort out the email problem.
We are overwhelmed by your kind messages and offers of assistance. I am reminded of another quote which kind of sums up what we are feeling right now:
“At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” Albert Schweitzer
Thank you all.
We will continue this blog, this hike is not over. Tomorrow is the appointment with the specialist and I hope for a speedy recovery.
Happy Birthday Steff. I do hope your ankle heals and you are able to continue enjoying your adventure. Regards, Phil

Thank you Leslie,
We finally connected the dots and worked out how you knew Jim. We just watched the Vermeer doco. Loved it, such marvelous dedication.
